Credit card processing service

How Does A Credit Card Processing Company Get Acquired?

Credit card processing is usually the automated system by which the information in a consumer s credit card is sent to a merchant service to approve a credit transaction against the consumers account. In the simplest sense, it is the term given to that process, from when the consumer gives the credit card details to the time that the money is available to the recipient until the time the transaction is complete. The idea behind this is to avoid charges of delay which might otherwise be applicable on the part of the consumers. Although it is automated, the whole business process can still be manual-led if and only if the employees of the processing company are competent. However, as most of these businesses do not operate on a full-time basis, there are opportunities for automation on a part-time basis. The basic logic behind the credit card processing system is that it requires authorization from the consumer before allowing a transaction to go ahead. In this regard, there are three basic requirements under which authorization can be given. First, the consumer must give the authorization through a text message or a voice call. Second, the authorized user must enter in the credit card information on a secure website, and thirdly, the merchant must authenticate the validity of the users' authorization through a token. These three requirements in turn lead to a number of operations within the credit card processing works. For instance, when a payment is made, the processor will either charge the designated cardholder a fee for making the payment or allow the payment through a gateway provided by the processor. It is during the actual processing of the transaction that the third requirement comes into play. Here, the cardholder's authorization is recorded in the database of the processor. Whenever the cardholder swipes his or her card at the merchant's machine, authorization is again verified and updated in the database. Then again, when a payment is made, what actually happens is that the customer service team at the credit card processing company does the actual transaction. If all goes well, then the customer service team will contact the cardholder and issues the credit card. However, what if there is a problem or mistake? The answer lies in the fact that most credit card processing companies provide their customers with the option of establishing a secure connection with a merchant bank. Usually, this connection is provided free of charge and is referred to as an MSP (Mindset Payment Gateway). This connection allows the credit card processing company to maintain complete transaction details including the details of the MSP, so that when a payment is actually processed, the credit card payment processing company will know exactly who issued the payment. When a customer uses his MSP instead of a pos terminal, the credit card processing company will use its swiping system to process the transaction. Once this is done, it will pass the transaction information along to the MSP, who is in turn going to charge the appropriate fee to cover any fees that may have been incurred by the MSP for passing on the transaction details to its own computer system. What this means is that a credit card processing company is not actually in possession of every single transaction that takes place in its system. It simply acts as a link between a card swiper and a pos terminal and acts as a middle man between the transactions that are made on the part of the user of the credit card and the acquirer of the card.
